Blazing Guitar, Dual Pedal Steel Fuel New Burrito Deluxe International Single, 'Sun Will Rise'
"You're talking to the mystics, you got psychics on the phone / What a silly
waste of time / You talk about lonely but you never were alone / Boy you just got to clear your mind." - Sun Will Rise, written by roots-rocker Edwin McCain
The veteran country-rockers are at their can't-keep- me-down best on this tune, which addresses a friend who's "walking around in (his) Armageddon shoes." A syncopated verse gives way to a powerhouse chorus driven by some blazing guitar work, which really takes flight on an outro that for some may call to mind the Outlaws' classic Green Grass and High Tides. Dual pedal steel from Burrito Deluxe patriarch "Sneaky" Pete Kleinow and session ace Dan Dugmore, along with Blue Miller's backing vocals, adds to the potent
mix. If Sun Will Rise doesn't jolt you out of your doldrums and make you kick off those Armageddon shoes, you'd better check your pulse.
Sun Will Rise is from the soon-to-be- released album DISCIPLES OF THE TRUTH (Luna Chica Records). Burrito Deluxe members are Carlton Moody, acoustic guitar, mandolin and lead vocals; Walter Egan, electric guitar and vocals; Jeff "Stick" Davis, bass; Richard Bell, keyboards and accordion; and
Bryan Owings, drums. |
